A 19 January 1841 revelation instructed , , , and others to build a
boardinghouse in where visitors to
the city could find lodgings and safety.
On 23 February 1841, the state legislature passed
“an act to incorporate the Nauvoo House Association” with , , , and as the trustees of the association. They continued to
function in these positions throughout 1841. In a 20 March revelation, and were directed to assist the trustees and were
appointed as agents responsible for selling Nauvoo House stock.
