JS and Hyrum Smith Imprisoned in Carthage

25 June 1844

JS and others surrendered to authorities; JS and Hyrum Smith arrested for treason; those arrested for riot posted bail. By order of Justice of the Peace Robert Smith, JS and Hyrum Smith incarcerated at county jail to await a preliminary examination on treason charge, Carthage, Illinois.
