Whereas an the ordinance entitled “An extra ordinance for the extra case of Joseph Smith and others passed Dec 8th 1843” and whereas the ordinance <entitled,> “An ordinance to prevent unlawful search and seizure of person or property by foreign process, in the city of Passed Dec 21, 1843” also amendment passed January 10 1844.— have had their disired affect in preserving the peace happiness, person’s and property, accord<of> of the citizens of according to their intent and meaning. of said ordinance
Therefore <sec 1.> Be it ordained by the City Council of the city of , that the aforesaid ordinances are hereby repealed.—
Passed Feb 12. 1844.
Sic 2. And be it further ordained that <nothing in the> the foregoing 1st section of this ordinance shall be construed, as to give license or liberty to any foreign officer <or other persns,> to <illegally> disturb the peace, happiness, or quiet of any <citizen of said> , any ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, under a penalty of not less— that [than] five dollars nor more, five hundred dollars or imprison[m]ent not more than 6 mo[n]ths in the city Prison
