Know all men by these presents that I of & State of Illinois am held and firmly bound unto James Gray of aforesaid in the penal sum of two thousand dollars good and lawful money of the which sum well and truly to be paid I bind myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents sealed with my seal dated this ninth day of March one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven
The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden his heirs executors or administrators or assigns do & shall well & truly pay or cause to be paid to the above named James Gray his executors administrators or assigns the sum of one thousand dollars good & lawful money of the in the following manner viz Five hundred dollars by the first day of March one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight and Five hundred dollars by the first day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty one, with twelve per cent interest from & after the first day of March one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, then this obligation shall be void and of none effect, otherwise to be & remain in full force & virtue Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of Lenore Steele
