A possible reference to John Franklin Segee, a mariner who married church member Charlotte Morgan Very on 17 June 1844 in Salem, Massachusetts. Erastus Snow may have become acquainted with the Segees during his travels in Salem from 1841 through 1844, though more likely during his journey to the area campaigning for JS’s election to the U.S. presidency in the late spring and early summer of 1844.
