This Indenture made and entered into, This fifth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty Two between Ethan Kimball of the county of and State of Vermont of the first part, and Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of the County of , and State of Illinois of the Second part, Witnesseth, that the said Ethan Kimball party of the First part, for and in consideration of the love and good will he bears to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Sain[t]s, of which the said Joseph Smith, party of the Second part, is sole Trustee in Trust, and also for the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns forever, all these tracts or parcels of Land, situate and being in the county of in the State of Illinois known and described as follows to wit. Lots number one, two, three and four in Block number seven also Lot number one in Block number seventeen also lot number four in Block number four; all the above Lots being in s second addition to , together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to Hold The above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith, party of the Second part, his successors in office and assigns forever. And the said Ethan Kimball party of the First part, his heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust, &c. party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Testimony Whereof, the said Ethan Kimball party of the First part, hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
