This Indenture made and entered into, this thirteenth day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty two between and his wife, of the county of and state of Illinois, of the one part, and Joseph Smith Sole Trustee in Trust for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of the county of and State aforesaid, of the other part Witnesseth, that the said and his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph Smith, his successors in office and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of in the state of Illinois, viz: The north part of the North half of Lot No [number] thirty five in Block No six of s addition to the Town City of (S.E. [southeast]) commencing at the North west corner of Lot. No. 35— in Block No 6.— and running South eight Rods, thence east twenty rods, to Rigby’s line, thence north Eight rods, thence west twenty rods to the place of beginning. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in anywise appertaining. To have and to Hold the above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith, his successors in office and assigns forever. And the said and his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith & his Successors and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Testimony Whereof, the said and his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year above written.
