This Indenture made, and entered into, this twenty sixth day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty three between and Nancy [Waggner Wilson] his wife, of the county of and State of Illinois of the first part, and Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of the county of , and State of Illinois, of the second part, Witnesseth, that the said and Nancy his wife, party of the first part, for and in consideration of the love and good will they bear to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of which the said Joseph Smith, party of the second part, is sole Trustee in Trust, and also for the sum of one dollar, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of in the State of Illinois, known and described as follows, to wit. it being a part of Lot number twenty seven in Block number six of s addition to , commencing where the center of Water Street crosses the East line of said Lot and running thence West five and a half rods, thence North Ten rods, thence East five and a half rods, thence South Ten rods to the place of beginning, containing fifty-five rods more or less, together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns, forever. And the said and Nancy his wife, party of the first part, their heirs and assigns the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust, &c. party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof, the said and Nancy his wife party of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

[scilicet] I a Justice of the Peace in and for the said county, do certify, that and Nancy his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge, that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Nancy Willson having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said husband, acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said husband. Given under my hand and seal, this nineteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four.
