principal meridian excepting eight acres in the S. W. [southwest] q[uarte]r of the N. W. [northwest] qr. of said Section nine previously sold to Durbin <by> Erie Rhodes deceased -[Also a part of the South East quarter of Section no Eighteen in Township and Range aforesaid, commencing at a stone at the South West corner of said Quarter and running thence East twenty Rods, thence North Forty Rods, thence East twenty rods, thence South twenty Rods, thence East twenty six Rods, and two third Rods, thence North Sixty Rods, thence East forty five and one third rods, thence North Eighty Rods, to the North line of said Quarter, thence West one hundred and twelve Rods to the North West corner of said Quarter, thence South one hundred and Sixty Rods to the place of Beginning containing Eighty two acres of Land and containing in the whole three hundred and ninety four acres of land be the same more or less,]- together with all and singular the appertenances, thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining— To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns, forever. And the said and his wife, party of the first part, their heirs and assigns the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith as sole Trustee in Trust, &c party of the second part, his successors in office and assigns, against the Claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the said and his wife party of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year above written—

I a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, do Certify, that and his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge, that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely and without compulsion of her . Given under my hand and seal, this twenty fifth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three.
