In haste I drop <you> this line to inform you that I should have been home long ago but I learn that the a gagged law is now in force in that . Now I hope that you will be faithful over your Stewardship and then I will reward you accordingly Sarah [Phinney Foster] is almost worn out she is in at the national hotel and Sam & is there but I am in and I do intend to have my rights in I wish you to see and keep all my things right, if there is any attempt upon my property let me know even by express if necessary for my benefit and I will come if they kill me I wish Jenny would go to to my wife to take care of Dick or else send Hannah Sam will get a cash job there and likely stay there during Summer if Jenny or Hannah go their passage will be paid there by my wife or who meet every boat, coming now they might be better there than where they are but they must please themselves about going, those men must be brought to Justice, there is no escape from this, that is certain the innocent will not be harmed I am against Mobs, but the law must be magnified at all hazards we have a hundred barrels of flour here for the folks And has No means to live only from the [p.
