Truthiana No 4—
Mr Editor
Sir— The Millenium has begun:— not ’s Millenium that is to be ushered in by fire & brimstone in April 3d 1843. but the Mormon Millenium, commenced April 6[th]. 1843:— on this wise,— the pophet gave notice some weeks ago they would have a <so> on that day— the prophet, & the , & the , & — & little , or lesser prists, I think they call them.— and big guns & little gun and all sorts of fire arms. collected together on the floor of the , which is now surronded by walls from— 6 to 12 feet high— filled with rough benches,— crowwded to overflowing, even to the top of the walls on the 6 in[s]t.— Just 13 years since their was organizd in . N. York— consisting of 6 members,— this being the first day of the 14 year of the chuch they call it a Jubilee <a Millenium— no body but saints all peace, one fired f S,—> <4000 or 5000}> while ◊◊◊◊ing <I have> heard about preachrs speaking to the walls, but that was not the case at this meeting. which lasted, 3 days closing this evening, for so completely were the people packed away there was nothing to be seen from the centre of a room 100. by 80 feet, but bonnets, on the one hand— and at prayers bare heads on the other, which had they been, as white as Michaels would have presntd a very fleecy apprnce, & insted of speaking to the walls it was literally speeking to the people.—
These Mormons have a way peculiar to them, & can accommodate themselves to times and circumstances— with a grace their was an <is by> the east wall, but when the Northwest wind blew so that the audince could not heer, they made a pulpit of a barrel or two,— then mounted some of their big guns heavy loaded,— & then some of their auditers would get more sand & dust than knowledge, but it matterd not. there is no turning them from their purpose, they are a persev[er]ing people, & will accomplish what the[y] begin.—
At these public councils or confrnces, they attend to all [p. [1]]
