Dear Sir
I think if I were in the place of the city council of I would endeavour to compromise and pay for the printing press of the one destroyed & take the receipt of the proprietors for whatever amount you should pay provided you should conclude to pay any thing— I advise this because I believe it would finally settle all suits between the Laws, Higbees & Fosters, against the Mormons either individually or as a body The Higbees have assured me that they will dismiss all suits against you & they only claim their loss for the press. It is for the purpose of settling these matters that I make the suggestions I do— I assure you the feelings here are pacified—
