Rainey his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims, of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever by these presents defend. In testimony whereof, the said , and Mary K. his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year above written.

Miles his wife, whose signature appear to the foregoing deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Mary K. Miles having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . Know all men by these presents, that we & of the City of Hancock Co. and State of Illinois has this day for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty five dollars in hand paid by Robert Stuart of , Lee County, Iowa Territory, bargained and sold unto the said Robert Stuart all that Lot or pieces of land, lying and situated in s and s second addition to in said and last mentioned as will more fully appear by referance to the plot of said addition being Lots No. one (1) and two (2) in Block twelve (12) in said addition to . To have and to hold the above described Lots, with all and singular appertenances thereunto belonging to him the said Robert Stuart his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and & Julia [Jencks Thompson] his wife for themselves their heirs and assigns, administrators and executors do warrant and forever defend the title of the lot or peice of land against every person or persons claiming by, through or under them in any manner whatsoever, or any other persons whatever. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our names and affixed our seals this third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four.
