There is an entry recorded 20 February 1845 in the Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger for $16.00 for seven orders to John Mackley dated 5 October 1844. This pay order could be one of the orders mentioned in that entry. Mackley’s account in the ledger notes nineteen orders on collector dated 5 October 1844 totaling $41.00. This and the three other extant pay orders for Mackley dated 5 October 1844 likely correspond to four of those nineteen orders. (Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger, 32, 146; Pay Order, William Clayton to Nauvoo City Collector for John Mackley, 5 Oct. 1844–A; Pay Order, William Clayton to Nauvoo City Collector for John Mackley, 5 Oct. 1844–B; Pay Order, William Clayton to Nauvoo City Collector for John Mackley, 5 Oct. 1844–C.)
