There is an entry recorded 10 December 1844 in the Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger for an order for $1.00 to Lorenzo Clark dated 16 August 1844. There is also an entry recorded 19 February 1845 for $3.00 for three orders to Clark dated 16 August 1844. There are four extant $1.00 pay orders for Clark dated 16 August 1844. Three of the extant orders were bundled together, suggesting those three orders correspond to the $3.00 entry. This $1.00 order likely corresponds to the $1.00 entry. Clark’s account in the ledger notes ten orders on collector dated 16 August 1844 totaling $8.00. This and the other three extant pay orders for Clark dated 16 August 1844 likely correspond to four of those eight orders. (Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger, 19, 151; see also Pay Order, William Clayton to Nauvoo City Collector for Lorenzo Clark, 16 Aug. 1844–A; Pay Order, William Clayton to Nauvoo City Collector for Lorenzo Clark, 16 Aug. 1844–B; and Pay Order, William Clayton to Nauvoo City Collector for Lorenzo Clark, 16 Aug. 1844–C.)
