Humbly Sheweth/
That your Honorable Body were graciously pleased to appoint to the office of Recorder of this , in which Situation has acted according to the best of his abilities <at all times> since the time of his appointment, but has not as yet received any Desk, Books, or Stationary of any kind from your Honorable Body, wherein or whereby to make & keep accurate Records of the Ordinances & proceedings of your honorable Body, & preserve them in safety, besides wishes to be informed by your Honble <Body> in what manner he shall be required to keep said Records, so as to Conform to the City Charter in that respect, & as in duty Bound. Will Pray,
