Book II
1 O friends let us in God most High delight
For he has powr O friends to guide us right
He has the powr each humble saint to bless
Who does to him in truth and love confess
O may we serve the Lord with single Eye
And of the tatlers love be ever shy
O let us put our trust in God supreme
And never stoop low to the tatlers theme
2 O ask the prophets true if God is pleasd
With those who are with tatlings low diseasd
What do you think the prophets true will say
Of those who do the tatler’s law obey
Will they their tatling lies and tales commend
Or will they at the tatlers arrows send
What do the prophets true O friends advise
That we may damp with scorn the tatlers lies
3 Our prophet says O friend we must <reform>
But does he say there is a gathering storm
Which is about upon our heads to break
Unless the saints The saints the tatling trade <forsake>
Perhaps we may O friends be scattered wide
If we by tatling laws O friends abide
The tatlers laws Shall never govern me
As long as I have Eyes their works to see [p. [9]]
