Clark, who apparently sometimes went by his middle name of Baldwin, was born in Connecticut in 1778 and married Mary Keeler in 1802. Shortly after he joined the church in spring 1835, Clark and several members of his family moved to Clay County, Missouri, and from there to Caldwell County, Missouri.
