whereas it has been made known to me by the Executive autho[r]ity of the state of <> that one Joseph Smithstands charged by the affidavit of one made on the 20th day of July 1842 at the Conty of in the state of <> before a Justice of the peace within & for the county of aforesaid with being acesrary [accessory] before the fact to antenintent to kill assault with intent to kill made by one on on the night of the 6th <sixth> day of may A. D. 1842 at the co <County> of in the said state of <> & tht theSaidJosephSmith has fled from the Jutic [justice] of said . & taken refuge in the State of .
Now therefore I, . gov <Governor>of the State of <> pursuant to the constitution. & laws of the & of this do hereby comand you to arrest & appehed [apprehend] the said Joseph Smith if he be fou[n]d within the limits of the aforesaid & cause him to be safely kept & deliverd to the custody of who has been duly constituted the agent of the said state of <> to receive said fugitive from the Justice of said he paying all fees & charges for the arrest & apprehension of said Joseph Smith & make due return to the executive department of this the manner in which this writ may be executed.
