Biography
14 Apr. 1810–19 Aug. 1885. Carpenter, merchant, hotelier, farmer. Born at Lancaster, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Son of Adam Lightner and Mary Trout. Married Mary Elizabeth Rollins, 11 Aug. 1835, at Liberty, Clay Co., Missouri. Never member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lived in Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, 1837. Defense witness in JS preliminary hearing, 7 Sept. 1838. Moved to Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky, 1839. Moved to Alton, Madison Co., Illinois, 1839. Lived at Montrose, Lee Co., Iowa Territory, 1840. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, Jan. 1842; to Pontoosuc, Hancock Co., by 1843; to Galena, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois, spring 1846; to St. Croix Falls, St. Croix Co. (later Polk Co.), Wisconsin Territory, 1847; and to Stillwater, Wisconsin Territory (later in Washington Co., Minnesota Territory), fall 1848. Returned to St. Croix Falls, by Aug. 1850. Moved to Marine, Washington Co., Minnesota, by June 1860. Moved to Hannibal, Marion Co., Missouri, by Aug. 1860. Returned to Minnesota and Wisconsin before migrating to Utah Territory, May–Sept. 1863. Located at Minersville, Beaver Co., Utah Territory, 1863. Died at Minersville.
