Colton, Andrew
Biography
9 Oct. 1817–1 July 1894. Laborer, plasterer, farmer, soldier. Born in Cayuga Co., New York. Son of Charles Colton and Polly Jones. Married Fidelia Reed, 30 Apr. 1839, in Hancock Co., Illinois. Defendant in State of Illinois v. Colton and State of Illinois v. Colton on Habeas Corpus, 1844. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley with William Snow and Joseph Young pioneer company, arriving Oct. 1850. Moved to Washington, Doniphan Co., Kansas, by 1865. Served in Fifteenth Regiment, Kansas Cavalry in Civil War. Died in Bigelow, Marshall Co., Kansas.
