14 Mar. 1815–18 Jan. 1865. Farmer, town officer. Born in New York. Son of Joseph Capron and Sabra Avery. Moved to Perrinton, Ontario Co., New York, by 1820. Lived next to JS’s family at Manchester, Ontario Co. Visited JS, 30 Nov. 1835, in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio. Moved to Auburn, Geauga Co., ca. 1835. Married Laura Brown, 10 Oct. 1838, at Geauga Co. In Auburn, served as constable, 1840–1841; assessor, 1845; trustee, 1848; and justice, 1860, 1863. Died in Auburn.
