Biography
5 Nov. 1802–22 July 1878. Stove plate molder. Born in Lanesborough, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts. Son of Sheldon Brooks and Sarah Noble. Moved to Pittsfield, Berkshire Co., before 1820. Married Amy Sophia Hazen, July 1827. Moved to Waterville, Oneida Co., New York, by 1828. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, by 1837. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ordained an elder, before Apr. 1837. Moved to Missouri, 1838. Returned to Kirtland, late 1839. Resided in Madison, Lake Co., Ohio, 1840. Appointed counselor in Kirtland stake presidency, 22 May 1841. Ordained a high priest, by 1844. Appointed by Brigham Young to preside over branch of church in Ohio, 1844. Presumably disaffected from church. Served mission to England for James J. Strang's Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1846. Moved to Buffalo, Erie Co., New York, by 1850. Died at Buffalo.
