4 Aug. 1796–28 Feb. 1872. Farmer. Born in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. Son of William Edwards and Elizabeth. Married first Elizabeth Artebury, before 1820. Lived in Overton Co., Tennessee, 1820. Moved to Sangamon Co., Illinois, by Sept. 1829. Enlisted as private in the Black Hawk War, 20 Apr. 1832. Defendant in State of Illinois v. D. Brown and Edwards, 15 Nov. 1842, in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Served a mission to Kentucky to campaign for JS as candidate for U.S. President, 1844. Married second Phebe L. Roll, 24 Mar. 1854. Moved to Concord, Bureau Co., Illinois, by 1865. Died in Neponset, Bureau Co.
