Biography
4 Apr. 1817–25 Apr. 1878. Farmer. Born at Netherton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Son of Andrew Somerville and Margaret Fowler. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1 July 1840, in Edinburgh. Ordained a seventy, 1841. Immigrated to U.S., arriving in New Orleans, 16 May 1841. Appointed to serve mission to Canada, 1842. Married Eleanor Jane Davis, 4 Feb. 1844, in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, arriving 20 Sept. 1852. Donated property in Spanish Fork, Utah Co., Utah Territory, to church, 12 Jan. 1858. Became U.S. citizen, 15 Mar. 1859. Moved to Mona, Juab Co., Utah Territory, by 1870. Died at Mona.
