Stays
Summary
A form of lining used by tailors to strengthen or bind seams and edges on the inside of garments, typically near necks, cuffs, and waists. Also a form of female underclothing—a laced underbodice stiffened through the insertion of bones, wood, or metal, worn by women for shaping and support.
