Nauvoo Masonic Lodge Officers, December 1841–April
1842
Grand Master granted a dispensation for the organization of
a temporary Freemasonry lodge in in
mid-October 1841. In conjunction with this action, Jonas appointed as Worshipful Master, as Senior Warden, and as Junior
Warden. On 29
December, eighteen Masons met and opened the temporary lodge in ’s Nauvoo office. In addition to confirming the previous
appointments made by Jonas, the congregants elected the other officers
listed below. On 15 March
1842, Jonas visited Nauvoo and officially installed the Nauvoo Lodge
under Dispensation. Though Jonas had appointed John D.
Parker as Senior Warden, Hyrum Smith acted as Senior Warden (pro
tempore) during the period between December 1841 through April 1842.
