April 30th, A. D. 1841.
To the honorable, the Court Martial,
Lt. Col. [George] Schindle, and , are charged with mutiny.
1. Specification— That the aforesaid Schindle, & were guilty of un-officerlike conduct, insubordination, and mutiny, in stating on sundry occasions that was guilty of a palpable violation of law, and military rule, or words to the same import, in the presence of Capt. [Lysander] Gee, & others.
2. Specification— That the aforesaid Schindle was guilty of unofficerlike conduct in holding accountable for words spoken in debates; thus destroying the freedom of speech.
3. Specification— That the aforesaid was guilty of unofficerlike conduct in reporting that Col. Gee was incompetent to the trust reposed in him.
