Ephraim S. Green complains of John M. Ferris administrator of all and singular the goods and rights and credits of Joseph Smith deceased at the time of his deth who died intestate in the said County of on or about the [blank] day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four. For that whereas the said Joseph Smith in his life-time to wit on the twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three at to wit the County of aforesaid made his certain promissory note in writing bearing date a certain day and year therein mentioned to wit the day and year last aforesaid and thereby then and there promised to pay [p.
