to the said <​or order​> on demand the sum of one thousand eight hundred and eighteen dollars and thirty five cents, and then and there delivered the said promissory note to said And the said to whom or to whose order the payment of the said sum of money in the said promissory note specified was to be made after the maki[n]g of the said promissory note and before the payment of the said sum of money therein specified to wit on the twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight at the County of aforesaid indorsed the same to <​by​> which indorsement he the said then and there ordered the said sum of money in said promissory note specified to be paid to the <​said​> and then and there delivered the said promissory note to him the said by means whereof and by the force of the statute in such cases made and provided the said defendant then and there become liable to pay to the said the said sum of money in [p.
