The Character of for truth & veracity is not very good. He would not be believed on oath, by the generality of persons who do not belong unto the Mormon Church, in any matter in which Joseph Smith was interested.
Cross-Examined by Plaintiff’s Counsel.
Deponent states that would be believed under oath by the generality of persons who Know him in any Cases Except where Joe Smith is interested. The population of Iowa Territory, in which used to live, is upwards of six thousand, nearly one sixth of which are Mormons.
Rec and further deponent saith not I Know nothing of <​Know nothing of​> the Character of & for truth & veracity. I have been Sheriff of Iowa Territory— And further deponent Saith not.
