State of Illinois, , ss. I, a justice of the peace within and for said , do certify that and his wife whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in and executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said having been by me made acquainted with the contents of said deed and examined separate and apart from her said acknowledged that she had executed the same and relinquished her right of dower to the same voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . Know all men by these presents, that I and Cynthia [Beach] his wife of the County of and State of , have this day for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars in hand paid by Thomas C. Ive of the and aforesaid, Bargained and sold unto the said Thomas C. Ive a certain tract or peice of land, lying and situate in s addition to in said and , as will more fully appear, by reference being had to the plat of said addition viz. it being a part of Lot No forty six (46) in Block No. five (5) in said addition to , commencing Eleven Rods, and three feet North of the South East corner of said Lot, and running thence North on the East line of said Lot seven rods, thence West to the centre of Barlow Street, thence South parallel with the East line of said lot seven rods, thence East to the place of beginning be the same more or less. To have and to hold the above described peice of land with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said Thomas C. Ive his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and Cynthia his wife for themselves, their heirs, Executors administrators and assigns do warrant and forever defend the title of said land against the claims of all persons, claiming by, through or under them in any manner whatever. In testimony whereof they have hereunto set their names and affixed their seals this first day of April AD one thousand eight hundred and forty four
