This Indenture made and entered into this sixteenth day of Decr. in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four. between and his wife, of the county of and state of , of the one part, and John Kay of the county of & aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said and his wife, for and in consideration of three hundred dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do grant, bargain, sell, convey, unto the said John Kay his heirs and assigns forever, all that peice of land situate in the City of , viz: Being the North (1/2) half and South West (1/4) quarter of Lot (4) in Block (160).
Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the John Kay his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and his wife their heirs and assigns the aforesaid premises unto the said John Kay his heirs and assigns against the claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
In testimony whereof the said and his wife, of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

I a justice of the peace, in & for said , do certify, that and his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, severally acknowledged they had executed the same for the purposes therein mentioned. And the said having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said deed, having been by me examined seperate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily and without under influence of her said .
In testimony whereof I have set my hand and seal, this eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five.
