Be it remembered, that on the 25th day of June in the year 1844. Joseph Smith, , , and as principal and , , [,] as sureties, personally appeared before me Robert F. Smith one of the Justices of the peace in and for the aforesaid, and jointly and severally acknowledged themselves to owe the people of the state of the sum of Five hundred—— dollars, to be levied of their goods and chattels, lands and tenements. if default be made in the condition following, to wit:
The condition of this <re->cognizance is such, that if the above bound Joseph Smith. , . & , shall personally be and appear before the circuit court, on the first day of the term thereof, next to be holden in and for the aforesaid; and then and there to answer a charge of Riot Riot.
and abide the Judgment of the court and not depart without leave; then this recognizance shall be void; otherwise, it shall be and remain in full force and virtue in Law.
