.— Orders were given to come within 50 <F[eet]>, & Orders were given to retreat, he rode up, & saw within abt. 15 feet striking at an Umbrella with his Sword or Stick, abt. 10 <M[inutes]> after Orders for retreat, appeared to be confusion in the Infantry, asked why he did not retreat, & he s[ai]d he cd not get off, & he was behind, & seemed to be in quite good humour with the infantry Man.—
[blank] Foster.— gave Orders to retreat when they wd. charge, Rode up <to left wing> to give Orders to retreat, heard voice saying follow me, & repeated 2 or 3 times, thought any Person shd have heard the Order, & thought was wrong in the steps he took,—
.— Gave Orders to Men to not get to interfere with Infantry, & to keep from 40 to 50 feet from them, observing room to Wheel,
