The bearer of this, Mr Harrison Kimball, is visiting your , for the purpose of permanently establishing himself in business— he is connected with your cousin, JamesC. Smith— of the firm of Smith & Blackwood of this — you will recollect, that I spoke to you about your cousin James— and I beg of you to interest yourself for my friend Kimball— who you may consider as the representative of cousin James—
Please give Mr Kimball your friendship— for I assure you, you will find it not misplaced—
We have often heard of great slanders against you— I am inclined to think them generally unfounded—
