Farr, Winslow, Sr.

Biography

12 Jan. 1794–22 Aug. 1865. Farmer. Born in Chesterfield, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire. Son of Asahel Farr and Lydia Snow. Married Olive Hovey Freeman, 5 Dec. 1816, in Waterford, Caledonia Co., Vermont. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, May 1832, in Charleston, Orleans Co., Vermont. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, spring 1837; to Missouri; and to Illinois, by May 1839. Ordained a high priest, by 6 May 1839. Moved to Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1840. Moved to Cutler’s Park near Winter Quarters, unorganized U.S. territory (later in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska), June 1846. Served mission to eastern U.S., 1847–1849. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, Oct. 1850. Died in Big Cottonwood, Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory.
