<*> <*> here exhibited a Pamphlet of 24 pages— entitled “A correct account of the Murder of Generals Joseph & <and> at on the 27th. day of June 1844, by William M Daniels an eye witness.” Published by for the Proprietor at , Illinois, 1845— and asked the witness if he was the author of that Pamphlet, and <whether> if the facts as therein related were correct, and truly Stated— The witness answered, that <“>the facts as set forth in the Book are mostly correct as I stated them to <”>— The Witness was then asked, whether he had not taken the manuscript of the Pamphlet for publication to the office of the “Quincy Herald” in — To which he answered that he had not— That took the manuscript to the Herald office, and that he went with him, but that it was not the same manuscript— then again asked the witness, whether the facts set forth in the Pamphlet which he then held in his hand, were truly stated or not— To which the Witness answered— “If I was going to tell the Story off, the facts as set forth in the Book are as nigh as I could tell them”. then asked the Witness if he had authorised the following advertisement, which he read from the “Nauvoo Neighbor”, a newspaper printed in the City of by , dated May 7th.— 1845— which is as follows:
“Ho! A Daniels’ come to Judgment.”
