<. at Alston.> <4> Saturdy 4. arriv[e]d at Alston, and discovrd [discovered] by stragem stratagem that a letter had been recevd [received] from Isaac Russel[l]. Dated <as follows> “ Janury 30, 1839. To the faithful (B Letter. to & ) I. R.”— being led by the spirit of God soon unfolded the the sophist[r]y & falsehood of this Letter to the <convincng of the> at Alston & Brompton, so as to entirely destroy their confiden[c]e in the apostate Russel although thy had loved him as a father.

<Joseph at > <10> Friday 10 I arriv[e]d with my family at the White purchase, & took up my residen[c]e in a small log house on the bank of the about 1 mile south of , hoping that I my and my fr[i]ends may here find a resting place for a little season at <[Samuel] Leech’s Letter> least. “ 0 (L. 44) Leech”
