I staid [stayed] at this day, and my bro came in. I had snt [not?] seen him before since my delive[ran]ce form [from] prisson.— return[e]d to .
<18> Tuesday 18,[th] I went to the house of a man by the name of Matthws, du[r]ing the eveni[n]g the neighbors & I gave them a short discourse.
<20> Thusday 20, visited at ’s from there we were invited to visit at bro Vance’s, which we did, & there gave to the brethr[e]n & fri[e]nds of th[e] neighborhood a brief history of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.
<22.> Saturday 22d. We retund [returned] to place.
<23> Sunday 23. Went to & prea[c]hed to a very crowded congregation. & so eager were they to hear that a part of them stood out in the rain during the sermon. I[n] general, they express[e]d good satisfaction as to what they had heard.
<24> Monday 24[th] We started for home, and went to , near . in Hancock Co. where th[e]y insisted we should tarry.— and we complied.
This day the purchased the town of , in Lee Co. I. T. [Iowa Territory] togethr with 20,000 acres of Land, adgoiny <adgacent> <to> it.
<25> Tuesdy 25, We held a meeting. to at which I spoke with considerable liberty. to a large congregation

< restored> <27> Thurday 27. O (L. 50.) J S.— I attended a of the , at which time Bro made his confession, and was restored to the again.
<28> Friday 28[th] I was transacting business of various kinds, coun[s]elling consulting the brethers &c, &c.—
<29> Satudy I was mostly at home.
<30. Sunday 30th. I attended meeting at ’s. There was a crowd[e]d audience & I bore tistinoy [testimony] concerni[n]g the truth of the work, and also of the truth of the Book of Mormon, &c. This day Sister Morris Phelps [Laura Clark Phelps], who had travelled 150 miles, <in co with her bro, John W. Clark,> to see her husband, arriv[e]d at Columbia Jail in Columbia.—> [p. 60]
