this was just about dark— he seem to be some fatigued— not much— he came in a carriage— he said he had come from in less than an hour, and asked for a drink of water— about 12 o clock at night, and Mr. [William] Grover came together— Mr. Kay [Key] came and called for supper for about 20 men— we got supper for them, and in a few minutes the Men came— and in about 10 or 15 mintutes called for supper for about 20 more— myself, Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Dearborn got supper for them— in all <got supper for> about sixty men— <that night—> Saw two wounded men there— one was slight[l]y wounded on the Cheek and the other in the arm— Mr. Grover brought one of the wounded men, who was wounded in the arm and asked permission of Mrs. Fleming to let him sit by the kitchen Stove— Did not see any think drank by them— Do not know — did not See there at Supper time— Do not know — Saw & Grover at the Supper— after came about dark and asked for a drink of water— did not see him afterwards— knew a good many of the people who were there— living about — while Supper was getting Some one said he had killed old Joe— [p. 50]
