Some one else said he had killed him— heard Grover say he had killed old Jo— said they had finished the men— They said they had killed Jo. Smith— all around the house, by those who were there—

Did not see them have any arms— Part of them stood guard, and part of them went up Stairs and went to bed— Dont know at what time they left next morning— most of them were there next morning, but not so many as the night before— Grover & were there at breakfast— they boarded there— The family was all up when they came that night— Grover and were not there at regular supper time the evening before— Grover & came and were at the door, Mr. Kay came in and said the company had come— Did not see them drinking that evening— All Mr. Grover said about the wounded man, was he asked me to let him sit by the stove, My Aunt (Mrs Fleming) came in and he asked her— she said he might sit there— he sat about an hour— the name of this wounded man was William Voras— he had lived out on , I know him, and had seen him before— none of them came to talk with Voras while he was sitting by the Stove— Did not hear any of them say how Voras came to be wounded— Cannot Say how many staid on guard that night— no alarm that night— suppose they went to bed about 2— O’clock— that night— [p. 51]
