also breakfasted there that morning— after breakfast I did not see him until about midnight— said when he came, we have finished the men— Mr. Grover said we have killed old Joe— it at the time this was said they were all walking backwards and forwards— Mrs. Fleming was there— supposed She heard it— It is usual to sit up at Flemings until 12 o clock— we did not sit up waiting for these men— It was 4 o’clock before I went to bed that night— no preparation made for supper for them until they came— when they came part of them went into the dining room— and some into the bar room— Grover & came into the dining room— they did not stay there all the time— I was in the dining room while they were there, but was backwards and forwards getting supper— the dining room door opens into the kitchen— the kitchen adjoins the dining room— Cant say how many men came with Grover & — in about 10 or 15 minutes afterwards— supper was called for ◊ for about 20 more— most of the people who took supper there that night were living in and the neighborhood— There were a great many men came into the dining room with Grover & , but cant recollect any of them— my attention was directed to Grover & — the wounded man they Grover brought into the kitchen was named Wm. Voras— I was not most of the time in the kitchen— I was backwards and forwards assisting about the Cooking— The reason my attention was attracted to Grover & was because I had no idea they would have done any such thing— I did not think [p. 54]
