I never Saw her until last friday— Dont know who pays me for coming here— I boarded at s at last Court— I did not pay for my board— dont know who paid it— I have conversed frequently about this matter— It is not the subject of frequent conversations at now— It is getting to be an old Story— never told what Capt Grover Said until just before the last Court here— who lives in called upon me at the to know what I knew about it— nobody was with him at the time— no other person has called upon me to know about it— I have frequently talked to persons about it— I made an affidavit about it at — to get a guard to protect me— I never Stated in a affidavit that came out all the way with the troops from — did not Say that 3 or 4 guns were fired before they got to the Jail— It was a clear day— the 27th. of May— dont think there was any moon that night— I expect I swore that 4 or 5 Guns was all I Saw fired at the Jail— I See the flash of the 5 guns— which is all I Saw fired— dont recollect Seeing any men at the Jail until the men who came up out of the woods got there— dont recollect to have seen any guards at the jail— did not know which the Jail was at that time— did not See any firing until the men from the Woods got ◊— the firing [p. 70]
