I live 8½ miles south of this on the road— I know Wm M Daniels— I heard him say on the nite after the Smiths were killed he came to my house about dark or a little after there were a good many people there I did not notice D untill some time afterwards his company was Jno Pike & Dereck [Derrick] Fuller after a Short time D Said he was tired I told him to go up stairs and go to bed— about 2 o clock a considerable number of neighbours gathered in obeying s orders before they got it they were fleeing towards Augusta— I went up s[t]airs and woke up D & told him Mr Andrews was not yet gon and that they were going & that he had better get up and go with them he did get up— we went to near Mr And house the doors were shut and we supposed they were gon— the first report which came with me was that they were Missourians who had killed the Smiths and I wondered in his presents if they were all Missourians he said [p.
